Enhanced Training and Certification in Primary Care Adolescent Mental Health. AIAP is aware of the ongoing shortage of mental health and substance use services to youth and young adults and is engaged in establishing increased access through enhanced primary care provider training with a capstone certification included.

Increased availability of psychiatrists specifically trained and certified in Adolescent & Young Adult Psychiatry, through partnership with training programs to develop fellowships in Adolescent and Young Adult Psychiatry and support of existing or development of new certification programs or opportunities.

Support for research to develop new and expand available safe, evidence-based, and approved treatments for teens and young adults with mental health and substance use disorders.

Development and Support of continuing education curriculum for mental health providers, including a textbook specifically designed for primary care providers working with teenagers and young adults
